Ok, new Common Sense just released. It's timely and pithy and hopefully you think it worth your time (and mine).

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

I am obviously a big proponent of local news. It's critical to a functioning democracy. However, we need more independent media publications. Legacy sites with big corporate owners have websites that are frequently, maddeningly unusable. By the time you access the content, you're already pissed.

I’m not sure if Trump is in Michael Corleone “settle all family business” mode right now or if he’s going full Al Pacino in the closing scene of Scarface, or if we are at Jack Nicholson “you’re damn right I ordered the Code Red!”

“Every single person in the Epstein emails should be removed and excluded from positions of any power forever” would be a good op-ed, but probably won’t appear in the NYT. Even more importantly, it would be a good political party platform, but that probably won’t happen either

Yes. (And how soon they should be sworn in after being elected.)
Texas has a special election for Sylvester Turner's seat (TX-18), a full seven months after he died, because Abbott capriciously delayed it.

A simple, long overdue reform would be for Congress to mandate by federal law how soon after a vacancy special elections have to happen.

It turns out a lot of people in law enforcement are uncomfortable with Flock Safety's model.
