New void, still screaming.
A fine month of listening done. New releases, a deep dive on The Cure, revisiting my 2024 AOTYs and a few favourites to boot.

Really, really impressed with this. Stellar stuff.
Next up, new Toni Geitani. The bandcamp description hopefully proves accurate:
'A genre-annihilating album transgressing the boundaries of experimental Arabic, electronic, avant-pop, dark ambient, and industrial forms'.

Judging by the opening track: hell yeah!

A delight!
Now for something different - a little indie/folk pop to soothe the soul from Ailbhe Reddy.

Turner bringing that big Tom Waits energy at times here. Approved!
Next up, new Aaron Turner (isis/sumac) teaming with Joachim Nordwall on 'Malign Seeds'. Turner made my '25 AOTY list twice, so I'm hyped for this.

This is fantastic!
Internet restored, so I am kicking #newmusicfriday off with some blackened psychedlia from QASU.

This album has been so nice to my ears all week.
Finding this new Katia Krow to be doing wonderful things to my ears and the many internal lightbulbs connected to them. If you like a bit of tactile ambience, give this a go.

Went with a scramble for today's lunch. Added a bit of peanut rayu just to see what would happen... pretty good!

My prayer plant is thriving. I don't do anything to it. I don't know how to stop it.

They weren't lyin about that Joudvarnis! Bit of everything in there, lots of drive and muscle. Solid!

R.I.P. Sal Buscema. Decade in & out, he was a storyteller of such remarkable quality that I’ve yet to hear anything but the fullest measure of praise for his work from his collaborators. Me, I discovered his work in 1970’s Avengers #72. I absolutely fell in love with it. It helped make a fan of me.

Give yourself a break from the unrelenting horrors: The People's Joker is on Tubi now, it's a multi-media absurdist fever dream of a coming of age story, and it's very funny. Lots of good easter eggs for those of us who love the Batman mythos too.

The People's Joker (2022)
Chasing laughs in Gotham, a painfully unfunny aspiring clown wrestles with her gender identity while sparking a revolt against a caped crusader.

But is it, kind of?
Kind of it is

It's the most wonderful day of the week. Kicking things off with the new Delaney Bailey for a gentler intro.

I saw someone dismissed the Avatar nomination for Costume Design for having “CGI costumes”. Oscar-winning costume designer Deborah Lynn Scott worked her ass off practically designing the traditional dress of the Na’Vi and then handing it over to Weta. They didn’t design it in the computer!
