Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein is my favorite version, but this is a close second. It's a grim, dark portrayal and it's a relief when all the actors come out at the end to bow, joining hands and smiling.

National Theatre Live: Frankenstein (2011) 1080p Starring: Benedict Cumberbatch as The Creature and Jonny Lee Miller as Victor Frankenstein.
Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein's bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the Creature...

Imagine posting this like it’s a flex. You’re a creep and a perv.
When I was 37 I was dating a woman who was 19. The thing that inspired me to break things off was hearing Pearl Jam's "Alive" on the radio - a song released 9 years before her birth she had never heard . In that moment I realized things would never work.

His appointment is still pretty far away, so in the meantime the pizza bagel of shame will keep him from digging at his stinky ear

Explaining to your boomer dad for the 5000th time how to listen to a podcast, but if he doesn’t figure it out people die. It’s a super fun game and we’re all really having a good time right now.

Watching The Expanse for the first time: the themes of social class and capitalist exploitation seem very relevant

This will be the first holiday season without Mom. The plan is to spend as much of it with Dad as possible, keep us all busy. Not trying to speed run grief, but it would be great if it could hurt just a LITTLE less.

Hell, that’s been every retail and food service job I’ve ever had. Strict script to follow, had to keep a “smile in your voice” because secret shoppers aka auditors could come in any time and if you fucked up, the whole store got marked down for it. That’s never gone away.
It's interesting that for a very long, long time, retail workers were commanded to act like robots. Strict scripts you had to follow or else get fired, done repetitively all day long.

People got fired for such as not smiling enough to a customer right after finding out their parent died, etc.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.

i've said this before, but americans are entitled customers because customer is our only role in life where others care about our wants and needs

we get stepped on as workers, as students, as tenants. only as a customer do we experience any respect or consideration

Picture a Black employee, her first week on the job, getting hit each day with automated reports that she is being "aggressive" to customers because the surveillance software categorizes Black smiles as hostile.

It's already happened before, elsewhere.

Furloughed DOD workers arent only going without pay, they’re being told they’re in actual debt to the government and are expected to pay to work. This is insane.

Diane, it’s day 33 of the government shutdown. Gordon slept on my couch last night and listened to Billie Holliday all night, which I normally wouldn’t mind, but Gordon played her at a deafening volume, and a result I could hear my landlord weeping on the other side of the bedroom wall.

Could it be the government shutdown resulting in a shit ton of people not having any extra money? The massive economic downtown and rampant inflation? The fear of mass shooters and ICE deputies ready to tackle anyone who looks at them wrong? Or even the $20 popcorn to accompany a $25 ticket?

Watching Freakish: it’s corny in the most 2016 way possible. Think Breakfast Club if a zombie apocalypse happened halfway through the day. I do love this girl’s hat, may try to knit a replica.
