The pitch for AI really does seem like it all boils down to "Yeah a highly developed service economy seems great and all, but it's really hard to integrate slavery into the mix without losing productivity. What if we could fix that?" And it's just impossible for me to see it any other way

So much of "cancel culture" discourse is a re-description of the normal functioning of a democracy and public discourse by people who didn't like the results of one, or both, or how it made them feel.
