so if you've followed me on tumblr, you might have seen that I don't take commissions. well,

My assignment for Winona Nelson's SmArtschool class: Choose a favorite book and illustrate a cover for it.

I picked "The Song of Achilles" by Madeline Miller, and my goal was to capture a similar bittersweet tone as the novel has.
Achilles and Patroclos, standing next to each other in front of a raging fire. Achilles is outfitted for battle and looks wistfully into the distance, while Patroclos ties some laces of his armor, also looking sad. Behind them and above there's the mosaic of a warrior in his chariot.

It is 4 degrees in the UK. Our boilers water pressure went off at some point last night. Mother wanted me to wait for someone to come out, I knew I could fix it easily. Did so because it's fucking freezing. Now she's mad at me because she's worried she'll look a fool to the engineer coming out???
