Oh, good the whole book piracy discourse is back, in which a bunch of people with no money argue about whether a bunch of other people with no money deserve to get paid for their labor or not while a few billionaires hoover up all the money from everybody's labor.

If memory serves, making Sleeping Beauty, with every scrap of trad anim talent, nearly bankrupted the company cos audiences were bored of the safe fairytales. The pivot to this style both saved money (with the unfortunately concequances listed) and also was a move to modernise for audiences.
the reason 101 dalmations looks like that is because disney incorporated xerography (ie early photocopying technology) into the animation process. rough pencils (by mostly male animators) were copied onto the cels so that disney could fire the (mostly female) inkers. remember that art can lie to you
