Reminds me of the how Akira Kurosawa learned he won the Golden Lion in 1951 for Rashomon. Quick story for y'all!

While he thought the film was a flop, a woman named Giuliana Stramigioli, who was President of Italifilm (and a huge weeb) insisted it be Japan's entry at the Venice Film Festival.

The start of something bigger for my own writing as well as what @blackkrystel.bsky.social & I have been building in our small niche over the last 5 years.

Looking forward to using BlueSky & #FilmSky as a primary point of promoting this effort. Glad to be here.
ICYMI, we've added Revenge of the Film Blog to the stable of work we're doing on film analysis and criticism. More polish is definitely coming (memberships, paid subscriptions, etc), but right now, we're proud to give you all a mission statement about why we're doing this. We hope you enjoy #FilmSky
Apocalypses, Aliens, and Coming Attractions
After five years, our little podcast is finally growing up. I'd like to share why.

OUR FIRST POST ON GHOST IS NOW LIVE!!!

@unclespaceghost.bsky.social felt it was best that we start our new endeavor with a mission statement of sorts, and what better way to do that than tell all of you here on #FilmSky what led us to this place after 5 years of podcasts and a lifelong love of film

Quite literally the single thing that would make me interested in Elden anything
ign.com IGN @ign.com · Aug 27
Ex Machina and Annihilation writer/director Alex Garland went the extra mile to convince FromSoftware chief Hidetaka Miyazaki to let him adapt Elden Ring to film. bit.ly/4fWC7ot
August 27, 2025 at 6:24 PM
Considering Garland's inspiration for 28 Days Later stemmed from his love of Resident Evil and the curiosity it evoked within him, this could wind up being seriously good.
Alex Garland wrote a 160-page draft and made 40 pages of imagery to pitch his live-action ‘ELDEN RING’ movie.

He then flew to Japan to pitch it directly to creator Hidetaka Miyazaki and seal the deal.

When I was 16 years old, I saw an original 70mm print of Apocalypse Now, and nothing has ever been the same since. Before that screening, I was curious about art. After? I cannot conceive of a life that does not center on creating or helping others create.
What movie has had the most impact on your actual literal life? Not necessarily your favorite, but the one that’s most influenced or shaped something in your trajectory?

If you could recommend one black-and-white movie to someone who dislikes them, what would it be?

Seems like a good time to revisit The People Vs Larry Flynt
I gotta say, @siridahl.com was banging on pots and pans about this. Not only does sex work lead the charge in new media (DVDs and BluRay) it’s also the canary in the coal mine for conservative bullshit.

Support sex work even if you’re a prude or pay for it later.
LOL all those antiwoke conservative gamers voted for this.

This is your history research for the upcoming Fight Club episode, and it's ending one minute at a time.

(Jokes aside, I can't wait to record this one. New episode will be on the way soon!)
