The Rwanda genocide of the early 1990s was fueled by misinformation on talk radio.

Just something to keep in mind as the trump crowd consolidates media control.
Democrats? Got anything to say about this?
Sickening — the White House has put up a site about 1/6 painting himself as a hero and Pelosi, The Capitol Police, and Mike Pence as the villains.

An attempt to rewrite history before our eyes.

You know, stopping trump wouldn't be as hard if the dem leadership were on board with the idea.

If the Republicans had had the attitude in 2009-10 that the Democrats have today, we would have Medicare for All now.

When dealing with some halfwit who says he didn't vote for Harris because he "didn't like" her but gives no concrete reason, ask him what he was afraid Harris would DO. This reframes the exchange, and not in the way they want.

I'll bet you a nickel that Marjorie Taylor Green doesn't utter a name from those files before she leaves. Not one single name

In their quest to "look tough" or something, the dems handed Bush Jr a blank check for Iraq, and got slaughtered in the ensuing midterms.
Unfortunately at my age I’ve already been through an entire American war cycle waged by a Republican with Democrats who refused to do their jobs in response.

OK, I'm confused here. The new California districts apply NOW to LaMafia's special election? For a congressional session that's well underway? That's what some seem to be saying, and it makes no sense to me.

I'm waiting to see stories of happy planeloads of Venezuelans returning to their newly free country. (They're doing that, aren't they?)
January 6, 2026 at 5:07 PM
Low oil prices are disastrous for what remains of Russia's economy. Anyone who thinks relief at the pump is going to be a silver lining of this attack is delusional.
There is already an oil glut, if Venezuelan oil comes back on the open market prices will plummet. Anyone saying building pipelines is the response to this is criminally dishonest, stupid or playing US forvidiots

Merrick Garland was the main saboteur, and Joe Biden gave him the opportunity. And stuck with him when it became obvious Garland wasn't interested in justice.
The lesson of January 6th is that it does absolutely no good to prosecute the the violent foot soldiers if you're not going to prosecute the leaders and hold them accountable for their sedition under the full force of the law.

Everyone can see that the Republicans don't give a crap about the Constitution.

Everyone except Chuck Schumer.
Congress shouldn't be voting to block further military actions against VZ. The Constitution says they can't.

They should be making ridding the entire world of this reckless embarrassment called a President.

Impeach.
Remove.
Arrest.
Convict.
Imprison.

SCOTUS cannot override the Constitution.

LaMafia's now-vacant seat will skew D under the new districts, yes. But for THIS session, the old districts still hold -- if they didn't, we'd have to have new special elections all over California.

One less asshole in the world.

Gavin, please take your sweet time scheduling an election for a replacement. Isn't that what Abbott would do in Texas?
From the AP:

"Republican Doug LaMalfa, a seven-term U.S. representative from California, has died, GOP officials said Tuesday.

His death reduces the Republicans’ already narrow control of the House to 218 seats to Democrats’ 213."

France is the European country which seems to get what's happening.
I do hope that Trump realizes, that French are In NATO, but not entirely in NATO.

and French nuclear deterrent is based on "you fuck around, we send small yield warheads to your strategic locations, if you don't comply,We nuke you more" and it's fully domestic.

French pledged to defend Greenland

If Hamas were to kidnap -- sorry, capture -- Netanyahu, the ensuing celebrations might drive Bari Weiss to jump off a cliff.
If it was okay for the Republicans to kidnap Maduro, then it's okay for Hamas to kidnap people too, right?

Anything else would be inconsistent, no?

We live in a world where kidnapping is an acceptable activity now. Anyone can kidnap anyone else.

The optimistic sentiment in this song wasn't the least bit ironic in 1957. Or even in 1982, when it came out. Today it sounds like a cruel reminder of a road not taken.

If you told trump that Maduro would pay him 20 million for a pardon, he'd probably do it. Right then.

Republicans made welfare fraud in Minnesota the most important story in the country. Schumer turned a war for oil into a question about national security briefings.
January 5, 2026 at 5:53 PM
If the dems had a history of actually doing something about these things, maybe trump wouldn't keep pushing the envelope like this.
If a President informs the oil companies, but not the Democrats in Congress, about an impending military raid/invasion, that’s called treason and dereliction of duty

What is the basis of any US claim on Greenland?
🇺🇸🇬🇱 Stephen Miller: The real question is: by what right does Denmark assert control over Greenland? What is the basis of their territorial claim?

What is their basis of having Greenland as a colony of Denmark?

Nobody is going to fight the U.S. militarily over the future of Greenland.

This is what Putin has been working towards all along. Break the NATO alliance, and Europe gets a lot easier to invade.

He found stooges in the US to carry this out for him.

One more covid death in 2020. That's all we needed for this not to happen.
Denmark's PM Mette Frederiksen is clear: if the US attacks a NATO ally, the post-WWII order is over. NATO only works if borders aren't changed by force. Break that rule-and the alliance breaks with it.

Something I've never understood.

You hold "conservative family values", so you vote for a party of pedos and child traffickers?

How does that work?
