Lots of new people here today! A bit about me since I've never posted an intro:

- I work in tech but don't talk about it much
- I like crafts and making stuff. Most recently I have been into crochet
- I like video games
- I have ADHD
- I watch a lot of TV shows while doing said crafting and gaming
Well my new paint arrived... but it wasn't until like 9pm... and by then my arm was way too tired to do anything with it 😂 maybe tomorrow will be my day

To put something positive out there: since I haven't been able to do much with my hands lately, I have been doing a bunch of reading about watercolour and wanted to share some things I found cool/interesting/delightful

If you are wondering how bad the thing with my hand is, last night I moved my thumb the wrong way ever so slightly and my entire forearm has been in constant pain since that moment 😂

I have 3 Hoya in my office that are all in bloom right now, very cool! Luckily only one of them has a strong scent

I should have bought a second paint palette with how my week is going 😂

For whatever reason my current thing I keep thinking about is watercolour paint, which is too bad because I don't need more paint

Very cool, while carrying on the groceries I full on rammed the doorframe with my good hand. Love it.

The Guardian: here’s how Substack makes money hosting Nazi newsletters. These newsletters weren’t even hard to find or subtle: swastikas and in-app recommendations from one antisemitic newsletter to a bunch of others. [theguardian.com]

This Super Bowl Sunday, I’d like to introduce you all to the magical curse bowls used in Upper Mesopotamia and Syria in late antiquity. Written in Mandaic (as here) or Syriac Aramaic, they trap demons who trespass on a household by sucking them in with spiraling spells to the center of the bowl.

So what's up with my hand is something called De Quervain tenosynovitis... can't say I would recommend it honestly

The level of alarm I just had at seeing Tumblr was the number one trending thing on this site

Well turns out I need to wear a brace for up to 6 months... Fun

I have been listening to a lot of podcasts lately... Anyone have recommendations of ones you like?

I joined a Discord server in the past couple months because I knew it was going to turn into a hot mess, and my patience has finally paid off... There is no drama like Discord drama

Just noticed today that this Hoya now has a peduncle on it. It's going to look so cool if it blooms!
Pro tip you can use Halloween cups as cache pots for your plants. Got this last year and it's grown out perfectly! 🌱

Well time to see what's happening in the aviation subreddit for no reason in particular...

For whatever reason the "you are interested in plants again" switch in my brain went off. Good thing for me hardly anyone is shipping and my plant wishlist is tiny 😂

Fun fact: Your local bookstore is doing more to protect you and your neighbors than Amazon is.

When you help make it so the only names people know are Pretti and Good, you reinforce the culture that says these things aren't "bad enough" until white people get involved. This has been going on for a whole year. Many non-white people have died in this same way trying to protect their neighbors.

"bearing witness to events" literally just means recording what is happening so it cannot be elided or erased in the future, it does not mean you are required to watch execution videos as some duty, stop letting people who don't understand words tell you what to do
