seeing some joke comments about the subject matter of this paper so it seems important to clarify that studying competition between platforms and the effect of regulations in a setting with potentials for truly massive externalities is just a very high value added activity for economists to do
Pornhub's removal of all non-verified content led to a 41% drop in traffic within 1 month.

Much of the displaced traffic was absorbed by competing platforms, including less regulated fringe websites (+55% visits) and mainstream competitors (+10%).

This is very disappointing. @aeacswep.bsky.social operates in the service of the whole profession, including the fabulous newsletters with great career advice. Even resources targeted at women benefit the profession, as it increases the quality of the pool of economists we all hire from.
The Federal Reserve is not as independent from the executive branch as we’d like to think. The NY Fed just cancelled this Thursday’s @aeacswep.bsky.social reception at #EEA2025 and withdrew from our summer fellowship program. Both support women and underrepresented groups in economics. #EconSky
