Trump posted a video depicting the first Black president and his wife as apes and his excuse for this is that it's a riff on The Lion King, a movie that does not feature any apes. Somehow this was a one-day story and we've already moved on.

If you need inspiration, just consider that your purchases on Amazon help fund the $40 million Trump bribe that was the Melania documentary.

I cannot stress enough how enjoyable it is to deprive that withered old cunt of your money. Waterstones, Argos, Boots - it is so easy to get whatever you need, and it feels kinda fun, like taking a holiday in 90s Britain
Just ordered a book from my local Waterstones. Click and collect so I’ll get it on way home tonight. As cheap as Amazon. Also bought an instant camera earlier this week from Argos, cheaper than on Amazon. It’s proving very easy not to use the evil billionaire’s website. More of you should try it.

As I am no economist, my answer focused on a more fundamental challenge:

With the world turning towards a power-based order, the EU, itself a creature of rules, needs to be able to do both at the same: Deepen its own rules-based order and market internally, while becoming more assertive externally.

If the government truly believe this, then drop those red lines & get on with taking us back where we belong!

I'm saying it because it's simply not said enough.

So Starmer, a man who never met Epstein but made a bad appointment, might resign. But Trump, his closest friend, fellow sex abuser and coverer-upper of his crimes, is going nowhere.

That’s how it works, isn’t it?

The daft thing is that with Proportional Representation there'd be no need for this self-destructive war within Labour. It could split into its component parts - left and right - and people could vote for what they wanted. It's only First-Past-the-Post that forces these irreconcilables together.

On a day with so much awfulness just taking a moment to note with admiration a dignified leader
🇲🇩🇺🇦 Moldovan President Sandu said that she is against her nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize, because there are more worthy candidates - Ukrainian prisoners of war.

Sandu emphasized that it is Ukrainians who are truly sacrificing themselves for the sake of peace and security in Ukraine and the EU.

We don't really need to connect the dots because Trump is doing it for us. He wants to take control of federal elections so he can rig them in his favor. He knows he can't win a fair election.

4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

There seem only three possibilities: 1 Mandelson or surrogate IS commenting, in which case the BBC is being untruthful 2. The BBC has telepathic powers connecting it to the disgraced politician. Or 3. The BBC is making it up. @bbcnews.bsky.social @rosatkins.bsky.social

BBC journalists keep saying Mandelson not commenting but BBC "understands" he insists has done nothing criminal. How does BBC "understand" this? This is dishonest journalism. If the BBC has been told this by Mandelson it has a duty to tell listeners. @bbcnews.bsky.social @rosatkins.bsky.social

New in PN: Lower courts can't fix what's broken in Minnesota

"Judge Menendez’s decision isn’t a failure of will. It’s a result of a world where conservatives on the nation’s highest court have decided their job is to help President Trump achieve a desired result, law and procedure be damned."
Lower courts can't fix what's broken in Minnesota
But a functioning Congress could.

Fire McSweeney into the sun then stop chasing Reform voters and concentrate on implementing proper Labour policies.

Trump was accused of inserting his fingers in several young girls vaginas in 1993. He was found guilty of inserting his fingers in E Jean Carroll's vagina in 1996. In 2005 he was taped saying he would walk up to women and grab them by the pussy.

He's clearly a rapist.

Why is he still in power?

The Lords is a massive problem. How can a supposedly advanced country still be maintaing a veritably feudal upper house where you can't get rid of members.

It's absolutely insane.
The government has:
1. Referred Mandelson to the police for investigation over leaking sensitive information while in government
2. Decided it *will* try to strip Mandelson of his peerage after all.

That’s both throwing him under the bus and then reversing to make sure in one fell swoop.

“Perfidious lust for unbridled power and the imposition of cruelty…,the rule of law be damned.” Looking at you, Stephen Miller.
I know you've heard that a federal judge ordered the release of 5 year old Liam Conejo Arias and his father, and that they're now home.

But did you look at the judge's order?

It's less than 2.5 pages and well worth a minute. "Jesus wept."
