Happy Howlidays from the Spitfire pack to yours!
Kinda funny how winters here were pretty mild for me while I was living alone. It’s like mother nature knew I had help once Sheridan moved in and ramped things up.

Hey friends! Megan could really use our support now more than ever as she navigates moving her entire kennel in the dead of winter. She’s fighting with ice as she tries to break down her kennels and get them packed to haul out. Every day is more money spent, so sponsorship helps a ton!!

The dogs are getting a good workout traversing the yards in all this snow. So even if we’re not running, they are still active!

Friends ran at the local forest today while we’ve been digging out, so I am looking forward to their trail report.

Well, at least the trailer is free for traveling to trails with the sled and snowmobile. Except it is still snowing, and we’re at war with Venezuela???
January 3, 2026 at 7:25 PM
It has yet to stop snowing. I think we’re going to be over 4 feet.
January 3, 2026 at 7:03 PM
The insanely rude part is the northern side of the local forest (20 min north) has only gotten 2-4” and the trails up there (which I need) are thin and punchy. Lake effect doing us dirty in 2026…

Feeling stressed. This season was off to such a good start—we were getting out very consistently. Then we had icy trails, followed by sore feet, and now too much snow. I want to take these dogs further than our usual little sprint distances, but it’s always something getting in the way.

So, I don’t think we’ll be doing our mileage bump today. 🙃

Maybe we’ll be able to snowmobile a bit if things… settle? We might have to drive to the local forest where they have heavy duty groomers. Our snomo struggles in deep powdery snow.

Yall we were not prepared lol.
January 2, 2026 at 5:23 PM
I was really hoping this would fall throughout the week and *not* within the 8 hours we were sleeping.
January 2, 2026 at 3:10 PM
When we went to bed there was about 4-5” new inches of snow. Now there’s about … 3 feet? 🥴

The forecast for tonight through Saturday is all over the place—it’ll depend entirely on how the wind blows. Anywhere from 4-30” is possible.

Here’s some more pics from yesterday. Today we rested, but tomorrow: mileage bump!

Me watching Ruby playfully throw a toy around the yard: aww 🥰

Me realizing the toy is frozen turd: 😟

With January rapidly approaching and drop bags for the ITI being prepared, it's a good time to drop this GFM for our buddy Laura in your timeline again. The ITI is totally nuts, but also amazing and I can't wait to stress my way through Laura's race again.

We’ve got more snow coming tonight and the rest of the week, but I couldn’t resist getting the dogs out this afternoon. Two teams of four. Come along for the ride!

The lake effect snow band has moved north for a bit, and I’ve got the first of likely many rounds of snow plowing to get done.. but I am stuck.

A big thank you to our third and fourth sponsor, Jessica Kizmann! Aka @fartsock.bsky.social

Jess sponsored Firnen and Umaroth, my two yearling boys from my Yona x Drake litter. She also owns their brother Kuiper from that litter, aka Eggbert, Eggboy, Egg.

I’m feeling about 90% better today. Now we just need some snow.
December 30, 2025 at 2:48 PM
Bad news: we lost a lot of snow overnight due to warm temps and heavy rain. I also didn’t get the dogs out because Sheridan and I are both battling a post-holiday cold.

Good news: it seems like we’ll be getting between 1 and 3 feet of snow this week? Maybe?
December 29, 2025 at 2:15 PM
Sheridan got me meta glasses for Christmas. So, expect about 200x more sled dog content.
December 28, 2025 at 11:11 PM
Doesn’t everyone theragun their sled dogs?

We got some sore tootsies after running in the Pine Barrens—something I didn’t anticipate, as we’ve run there countless times without issue. I guess our early snow made for some soft feet.

We’re back home in NY now, with a little more snow on the ground. Sheridan is checking the trail for us. 🤞🏻
