The 41st Annual Seguin Sled Dog Mail Run is happening February 21, 2026 and we were invited back to carry the mail!

There is a limited supply of Sledvelopes available, so be sure to purchase yours soon. I made a page on my site for more info:

Proud of these pups. It was a bit slow going at the state forest today, as it was actively snowing and the dogs were still a little tired from running yesterday late afternoon. We don’t usually train here on weekends, so we had to work on keeping to the right and passing many snowmobiles.

Success. Trails are still a bit crunchy and squirrelly in spots (open water craters to maneuver around), but more manageable with small teams. We’re supposedly getting plenty more snow next week, so we should be in better shape soon.

Had more downtime this week, waiting for conditions to improve. I also tweaked my shoulder/neck getting dragged, so rest was needed.

We got some snow over the icy base, but I’m still hesitant to run all 8. Gonna bail from work early to run two small teams before dark, & before I go stir crazy.

Seeing Zohran instantly getting a bunch of shit done in like a week makes you realize that politicians could always do that on some level if they wanted it bad enough and very few of them actually do.

Trails continue to thaw and refreeze, and it’s back to raining now.

It’s looking more likely we won’t run til Friday, assuming the snow they’re predicting tonight through tomorrow night comes through. BUT cold temps are returning, so hopefully we’ll be full steam ahead again.

If there’s a better obituary for an evil cartoonist than an A.I. generated version of his character that fucks up the defining detail of its design, I can’t think of it. No notes. 👨🏻‍🍳 💋

Snow update. Hoping for a bit more to help cushion the trail, it’s currently like concrete out there, and rain tonight-tomorrow won’t help.

May be hitting the local forest a few more times, since those trails aren’t as technical as our home town trails. And easier to do at high speeds. 😂

And WWIII abroad.
Donald Trump and his cronies are trying to start a civil war in America.

One of Sheridan’s good college friends is missing. LA folks, please repost.

I think I put mine together wrong.

White knuckle run. The trail firmed up a lot, and since we just groomed the top layer, there’s no “bumpers” along the sides. Lots of sliding and tipping. Snowmobile ski left a hard rut that kept catching my foot on the drag mat.

Actually hoping for warmer, softer conditions tomorrow 😂

From a good friend in Minneapolis: "Target is allowing ICE to stage in their parking lots, use their restrooms, and abduct people from inside their stores - so if you weren’t boycotting already, now is the time." They were staging in Chicago as well.

I keep misreading this as “my own mortality” and I’m like.. please, please….
trump paid his BFF to arrange for him to rape children, is a convicted felon and serial rapist, and has 5 kids with 3 women, one of whom he buried on his golf course to get a tax break. if we're counting on his "morality," we're fucked.

Success! Our home trail is accessible again. We’ve still got knee-deep snow in most spots, some open water holes but nothing major—except the spot I stepped in and sank up to my waist in ice water 🥶

A little soft and punchy right now, but hoping to get the dogs out tomorrow when it’s in the 20s.

Can’t believe I’m saying this but.. we could use some snow 😅

NOT a lot, just enough to cover up the ice and mud spots. We’re going to try the snowmobile on our home trails now they they’ve compacted down. Fingers crossed for minimal water spots on the trail!

Where did my puppy go? Who is this DOG.

Things continue to get messy. Our hookup area is icy but there’s still lots of snow on the banks I can shovel over it. The trail itself (last pic) has probably a foot of snow still on it. Tomorrow and Monday will be colder with snow, so we’ll see if we can do some grooming and run dogs.

Counterpoint: things are bleak, it is dark most of the time, leave 'em up til spring. Who cares.
Imagine being such a miserable bleep.

Things are grim, but dogs are still good.

It was warm this AM (33°) but they were cruising. Improved our time from Monday’s run, ready to boost miles. But first, two days of rain…
