1/2 Not the first time this threat has been made v. Mamdani. Read on to see how a long line of Supreme Court cases developed to prevent this type of ideological targeting.

Despite the Trump administration’s threats, it’s not easy to strip naturalized Americans of their citizenship. Here’s why:

Stripping Naturalized Americans of Citizenship Faces High Legal Hurdles
The Trump administration may want to aggressively denaturalize citizens, but the Supreme Court has forbidden doing so when a person’s political beliefs are a focus.

This is true. Even more, sanctuary laws still permit local police to pass intelligence to non-immigration feds, who then share it with ICE.

Or, as we are seeing so often right now, to run counterprotest operations that serve the federal interest first.

Our post-9/11 world is full of workarounds.
reminder to folks that sanctuary laws are really just non-cooperation agreements between state/local cops and ICE. they don't curtail ICE's enforcement authority in any way
ICE conducted raids in Manhattan's Chinatown this afternoon and returned to the federal building during rush hour. Residents gathered nearby to voice disapproval.

NYPD says it wasn't involved in the raids but now is running counterprotest operations.

Current "sanctuary" laws only get you so far.

1/5 ICE is on a shopping spree for surveillance tech to pursue purported domestic terrorists like anti-ICE protestors & antifascist/left wing groups that the admin is targeting via NSPM7. Here's some info on HSI, the little-known part of ICE that will lead.

This memo says that "DVE attacks against ICE continue to be perpetrated primarily by individuals or small groups of actors." This is in stark contrast to the NSPM-7 claim that there is a top-down conspiracy of antifascist violence, as I explain here: www.brennancenter.org/our-work/res...

If the government carries out Trump’s orders targeting antifa as a “domestic terrorist organization,” it would violate free speech rights. Here’s why: bit.ly/4330Su2
