Is facial recognition the new voter ID?
My latest, on ICE/CBP use of facial recognition & the larger threat it poses to our right to vote.
Opinion | ICE and CBP’s use of facial recognition technology needs guardrails — now
If left unchecked, immigration enforcement’s use of facial recognition technology could potentially trigger a constitutional crisis.

Taken seriously, this opinion is a quiet earthquake that might shake the foundations of several law firms which made agreements with Trump.

A D.C. Bar opinion shows why it would be ethical for the nine Big Law firms to rescind their settlement agreements with Trump. But to do so would invite his wrath.

This is true. Even more, sanctuary laws still permit local police to pass intelligence to non-immigration feds, who then share it with ICE.
Or, as we are seeing so often right now, to run counterprotest operations that serve the federal interest first.

reminder to folks that sanctuary laws are really just non-cooperation agreements between state/local cops and ICE. they don't curtail ICE's enforcement authority in any way
ICE conducted raids in Manhattan's Chinatown this afternoon and returned to the federal building during rush hour. Residents gathered nearby to voice disapproval.
NYPD says it wasn't involved in the raids but now is running counterprotest operations.
Current "sanctuary" laws only get you so far.
