of course people won’t need history when the machine god takes its rightful place as humanity’s ruler
I just got confirmation that National History Day, a program that does more to ignite K-12 students' love of history, learning, and yes, even the United States than anything else I've ever seen, had all its funding cut yesterday by the DOGE-axe at the NEH - including for this year's ongoing contest.

Got to listen to the brilliant Nikole Hannah -Jones tonight at work. It's refreshing and necessary to hear truth and power in these dark times.

This is going to get worse, not better. Never underestimate the American public’s thirst for performative cruelty towards The Other: defendants, foreigners, anyone they’ve been conditioned to see as less than human. We’re the country that made lynchings into picnics.

I'm usually the first to say that presidents receive way too much credit and blame for economic conditions that they have little power to control or influence in the short-term.

Not this time. This is 100% self-inflicted by the president and totally unnecessary.

an executive order is not a law - not grounds for arresting an individual - much less for violating all existing laws to strip someone of their green card and disappear him as it seems happened here
DHS confirms that it arrested Mahmoud Khalil, a former Columbia University graduate student. They say that ICE arrested him in coordination with the State Department in order to enforce President Donald Trump's executive order to deport student protesters.

Listening to The Prodigy's "The Fat of the Land". Reminiscing how I'd love to listen to this loudly while stuck in rush hour traffic on Van Ness in SF. Can't say it was appreciated by some of the button-ups around me. At the time, it felt like my own personal rebellion against the rat race.

Carl Dean, an asphalt paver who met his future wife, Dolly Parton, outside a Nashville laundromat more than six decades ago and quietly championed her as she rose to superstardom, died on Monday. He was 82.

Anyone cheering for this aid suspension is celebrating an aggressor who destroyed a maternity hospital, a cancer ward, dozens of religious sites, a theater where civilians were sheltering, a dam.

They are celebrating rapes and torture.

They are celebrating entire families obliterated.

The US continues to spiral downwards, but at least I can go outside and get some respite from nature. The plum trees are blooming and being spectacular.

Gov. Mills showed precisely the sort of integrity in the face of political pressure that the majority of the party currently lacks. More importantly, she did so extemporaneously and without hesitation from a purple state where this isn't a universally popular position.

US officials are reportedly threatening to revoke Starlink access for Ukraine if they don’t give us 50% of their mineral rights.

That’s not diplomacy, it’s extortion.

We’re also pushing them to kill a UN Resolution that blames Russia for starting the war.

Facts matter.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.
