The Teacher’s strike would be over tomorrow if the UCP offered the same contract the United Nurses of Alberta signed or if they agreed to binding arbitration.

The Notwithstanding Clause is a nuclear level hammer with the long range consequence of saying the UCP doesn’t negotiate, they legislate.

Ages 0-4 are the most important, emotionally & intellectually, in human development.

Yet, in the US, we have a very high rate of childhood poverty and a broken child care system.

Congratulations to New Mexico for leading the way forward for high quality, free child care. Other states must follow.

Danielle Smith is playing fast and loose with the future of the country. It seems like a long shot that Alberta would vote to leave, but who knows what happens once you start down this path. It’s a live-ammo outing now.

Utter insanity.

As a #Canadian, I have several feelings.
1) I feel deep relief that a good chunk of my fellow Canadians aren't complete disappointments.
2) Gratitude for voters that care about other humans showing up to vote for that.
3) danielle smith has lost some of her back up

Smith was directly asked today if her new plan for surgeries in Alberta would gut the public system and allow access to public facilities for private for profit operators...

Her response?

No.

We don't even have basic quality and safety data for surgeries performed in for-profit CSFs. Physicians tell me that there is an active effort to prevent data collection in for-profits.

If I were Wab Kinew or David Eby, I'd be working very hard to recruit #Alberta HCWs. NONE of us signed up to practice the way @daniellesmithab.bsky.social is forcing acute care to be. She is 10000% ensuring hospitals fail but she is also actively about to cause a physician crisis. Greed is gross.
