As we look ahead to the new year, we need to figure out ways to tell the story of the damage Trump caused so we can hold him accountable.

The Associated Press has an excellent story about how FCC boss Brendan Carr bullied a Bay Area AM radio station for the crime of reporting on local ICE activity.

facing existential collapse it immediately demoted journalists end replaced political coverage with safe public interest cack:
How an AM radio station in California weathered the Trump administration's assault on media
Six days into President Donald Trump's new administration, the San Francisco Bay-area radio station KCBS-AM and other outlets reported on local immigration raids.

There's a lot of focus on how the dripping antisemitism on the right has created a useful rupture in various parts of Trump's support, and that's true.

But I really worry that EVEN those on the less hateful side of that split are ignoring how dangerous some of these terrorists are.

"Unlike many of Flock’s cameras, which are designed to capture license plates as people drive by, Flock’s Condor cameras are pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras designed to record and track people, not vehicles. "
SCOOP: Flock left at least 60 of its AI-powered, people-tracking surveillance cameras exposed and livestreaming to the open internet. We tracked ourselves. The exposure highlights the power of these cameras and types of things they're tracking. Not just cars.

She's giving a de facto veto over news stories to powerful people just as long as they refuse to respond.
Weiss concluded: “We need to be able to make every effort to get the principals on the record and on camera. To me, our viewers come first, not a listing schedule or anything else. And that is my North Star, and I hope it's the North Star of every person in this newsroom.”

Someone should tell Bari Weiss this.

Outside the conservative legal world, you generally hear that the Federalist Society runs everything in the conservative legal world. Although outsiders talk about the Fed Soc, behind the scenes there are several groups that have a lot of influence. One has been Heritage.

In some ways, the legal people at Heritage have been doing what people think FedSoc does. To have the legal people at Heritage say "we're out" not only signals a split at Heritage, but a split of a group w/lots of influence that has been at the center of things in the conservative legal world.
