reading matilda as a child really did not prepare me for the eventuality that adults would be smashing 1/2+ books per week and actively making themselves dumber by doing so

every time there's political violence discourse i think about how jo cox was assassinated in broad daylight by a fascist who shouted "britain first" as he shot her, and now nine years later her party is dedicating every moment in power to placating the ideology of her murderer

as well, I know the work i do is valuable. i work in a university supporting using digital techniques in research, and i also teach creative writing to vulnerable adults to increase wellbeing as well as employability. how does making me unable to do that help the economy?
without it i have no idea how i could keep working and paying the tax for having multiple rare diseases i didn't ask for. i'd love to be well enough to work full or part time, commute, and also be able to live normally but it's clear these cuts aren't actually about that

literally, i don't know what i'm meant to do. i'm a person with multiple and complex disabilities who really wants to be able to work and feel fulfilled and cutting the only lifeline i have at a time when the sector i work in is letting huge amounts of people go is really really scary.

it's awful seeing PIP being portrayed as unnecessary and a barrier to working when it's the only thing that makes working a thing some of us can do at all - reducing it will increase unemployment massively and there's no safety net to catch those people. it's not an out of work benefit!!!
