A huge freaking hawk just crashed against the windows of our great reading room. I thought someone had managed to throw a football against it three floors up. #SaturdayLibrarian #LibraryLife #LibrarianProblems #Skybrarians

Don't get me wrong, I love music generally, but I'm not fond of muffled confusion apparently coming from one of our event spaces before the library even opens. #SaturdayLibrarian #LibraryLife #LibrarianProblems #Skybrarians

I felt bad when this guy asked me for a copy of the code of conduct and my thought was "What are you planning to do?", until just now when two of our security guards showed up with a cop to arrest him for criminal trespass. The original trespass was for assault. #LibraryLIfe #LibrarianProblems

Absolutely cannot wait to bust down the doors for a drink made by a company whose unionized workers are on strike in a store that doesn’t want to hire minorities anymore.
Beginning Monday, a Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate drink will be available exclusively at Starbucks cafés inside Target stores.

The chains are hoping the drink can drum up excitement from customers this holiday season.

#ThankfulNovember Today I'm thankful that my Graves' Disease seems to be in remission. (Not that it was giving me any trouble while I was on medication but they were threatening me with radioiodine therapy if it came back once I tapered off the medication, and I had no desire for hypothyroidism.)

Techbros: “We reinvented money and now it’s computer money and it’s totally better than old money except also it’s value is still technically calculated by the standard of old money oh ALSO it needs more power than many countries, does your inferior dollar bill need to be plugged in? I THINK NOT.”
Bitcoin now consuming as much energy as the entire country of Pakistan.

That seems bad.
The people at CBECI were kind enough to send me a copy of their updated Bitcoin power consumption data

At the end of 2024, Bitcoin's total consumption for 2024 *did* end up matching that of Pakistan. 2024 saw the biggest jump in power consumption ever. Absolutely wild stuff ->

BREAKING: Trump’s ICE bans Christians and all people from praying “in front of or inside” the Broadview ICE facility.

So, forced prayer in school is good, but volunteer prayer for the prisoner is banned.

This is what white nationalist Christianity looks like. This is Trump’s fascist America. Smh.
