- Voting typically takes less than 15 minutes
- We make it easy for citizens to vote, without cumbersome registration hurdles
- We have every reason to trust that ballots will be counted fairly, and results reported swiftly

I can’t even persuade my students to read the syllabus let alone brainwash them
It always makes me laugh out loud that so many politicians believe academics have even more power to persuade than they do. They have considerably less than some of them reckon - but we have even less than that. At least, though, we're not any illusions about our inability to brainwash our audience.

-free speech/ cancellation concerns
-burdensome bureaucracy concerns
-actually racist/ sexist/ etc

The new regime of withdrawing articles, deleting data, and policing grants to make sure they don't say "woman" or "minority" nicely tests for which of these mattered.
