Yesterday we did it! Brave people ('kayaktivists', to borrow a US term) successfully stopped coal ship from the port of Newcastle - and 170 of these legends were arrested. Today we are supporting those who face court on this day. It's not over – join us in Canberra for action this week, 26-28th!

I’m quite tired and more than a bit hungry but this genuinely makes me very emotional. Pacific island negotiators and climate advocates are fuelled here by a genuine love and connection to their people, their land and their oceans. It’s so absent elsewhere. But it’s why they’ll win.
The #COP29 venue has finally livened up after LDCs and AOSIS walk out on consultations over the unworkability of the finance text. Once again an example of SIDS setting the standard, and proving the value of spaces like this over the G20 or G7

There's also been a staunch delegation of First Nations advocates and other civil society representatives here to engage with the #COP29 negotiations and try to influence global efforts to tackle the climate crisis. We're not selling anything but I reckon we're doing good work too.
We’re telling Australia’s story and selling our skills, innovation and renewable resources on the world stage at COP, the world biggest trade fair, promoting jobs and investment at home.

It’s a waiting game after a long night of booked then abruptly cancelled presidential plenaries; abject fury from the Global South (AOSIS said the text shows ‘contempt for our vulnerable people’), and some bold civil society action. We’re still here, still fighting.
And our last Fossil of the Day award, for the overall #COP29 Colossal Fossil, goes to all Annex 2 countries for their shamefully low climate finance ambition. Thus technically continuing Australia’s award-winning streak!
