Smart phones and social media are useful tools. So is an SUV – it gets us to work, lets us haul home a bulky purchase! But just as you wouldn't hand car keys to a child without guardrails or training, so do kids need guidance before gaining access to powerful internet communications tools.
If we get nothing else out of this, at least Larry Summers will finally sit down and shut up. #Summers #Epsteinfiles

What I'm reading here is that for a $12,000 tax break for the richest, we are taking $1,600 from poorest, gutting safety net (there are poor women who will not get prenatal care) + adding $trillions to the debt (young people will face brunt of this) apnews.com/article/sena...
What's in the latest version of Trump's big bill now before the Senate
At some 940-pages, the legislation is a sprawling collection of tax breaks, spending cuts and other Republican priorities, including new money for national defense and deportations.

I mean, I kind of assumed this, but still. It's not appropriate that we should be tracked and surveilled by the government. Where does it end? What's too much?

This is a lie (not just because Nick Clegg said it, tho that's one indicator at least). You absolutely can make "AI" systems while fairly compensating people for data.

And even if it weren't a lie, then any industry that can't survive without theft and consent violations shouldn't survive anyway 🤷🏾‍♂️

This whole connection of national camera networks combined with AI capabilities, and general acceptance of mass surveillance, not a good direction

Hard not to notice that ICE isn't breaking up drug rings or gangs (because we would ABSOLUTELY hear about it if they were), but instead are dressing up like bank robbers and doing the laziest shit possible, like hanging out at immigration court or grabbing people for busted taillights. Worthless

One of the ways that Americans have true power right now is by finding community and starting to build resilience between neighbors and groups of neighbors/community wherever they find it. if we are to survive, it is going to be together. Alone we die.
We have to break the cycle of individualism.
Take care of your neighbors and friends, you're going to need community more than ever.
