If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

My in-laws surprised me with this mug and some Starbucks gift cards today, and guys - 🤩

I don't think that kids should be in the concentration camps. But I also don't think they should be sent away while their parents are kept in the concentration camps. I don't think we should have these concentration camps at all.

I'm 40 today. An age that freaks me out more than a little bit, if I'm very honest. So much of life has felt like trying to find my footing, and being at what might be the halfway point is a difficult realization.

That having been said: I'm thankful to get to have this birthday. ❤️

Beware of any Christian movement that demands the government be an instrument of God's wrath but never a source of God's charity, mercy, or compassion.

Hear me out, though.

(Whistling for me is a sensory nightmare and always has been, I hate the sound of musical mouth whistling)

And yet the thugs running rampant with ICE conceal their faces.
TOM HOMAN: “We’re going to create a database where those people that are arrested for interference, impeding and assault, we’re going to make them famous. We’re going to put their face on TV. We’re going to let their employers, in their neighborhoods, in their schools, know who these people are.”

"Hurr, now I'm gonna go smoke a pipe and f*** your daughter."

Also the drummed up love triangle isn't my favorite liberty taken by Peter Jackson. We like Eowyn without all that!

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

But does he get to keep his Nazi dress-up clothes?
BREAKING Greg Bovino has been removed as Border Patrol "commander at large" and will return to El Centro Calif, where he is expected to retire soon. A stunning turnaround after Pretti killing. Bovino's traveling blue city crackdown is over www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

The Riders of Rohan music is killing me lately.

I feel like that meme of SpongeBob getting up out of his chair - aight, it's time to watch Two Towers again.

I know it's a bit silly, but this has really helped me make some progress in places I felt stuck and helpless. 🥹

REV. SCHENCK: “I’m making up for the errors of my past— I spent 35 years as an activist for the religious right doing a lot of damage, inflicting suffering, contradicting the message I thought I was promoting.”
He spent decades bringing the religious right to power. Now he's marching to undo it.

Rev. Rob Schenck spent decades helping build the Religious Right—commingling church and state to advance conservative causes. Now, he says he must confront the damage he helped cause.

A cozy delight.
Being a journalist is sick: I just contacted a pre-eminent jaguar conservationist in Argentine with a question that has been weighing on me for ages and he wrote back right away with an informed answer.

part of this is like, conservatives projecting; part of this is conservatives unable to imagine politics without money; and part of this is dudes who are so out of touch with feminized labor that they think children's birthday parties exist as a spontaneous act of parthogenesis
I mostly just stay off Twitter altogether but after double checking that the Walter Hudson post was still up I ran across this and just had to share so the Romancelandians who bought hand warmers could hear about the PROFESSIONAL GRADE LOGISTICS.

I learned a new word today and I'm curious if it's one that anyone else in my circle knows without looking it up!

The word is eleemosynary.

I don't want to ascribe things that aren't there, but it's hard not to hear the countless voices from my childhood, the worldviews and scriptures taught, and to know, in my bones, how the murders of Good and Pretti will be shrugged off.

"The wages of sin is death", over and over. Tidy. Distant.

My birthday isn't until Wednesday, but my sweet husband and my dear friend @sarahecozart.bsky.social conspired together on a beautiful commissioned weaving that he gave me last night.

It's too personal to get into - but just know this gorgeous work of love and artistry meant the world to me.
