I recently learned that residents of Michigan are called Michiganders. That would imply the female or gender-neutral term would be Michigeese. And children in the state would be Michigoslings.

For kicks, I asked Claude about the updated CDC Webpage on the “links” between vaccines and autism. I can’t paste in the entire response, but here’s the summary: “This represents a dangerous undermining of public health based on politics rather than science.”

My favorite music production YT channel discusses ideas as entities with intent. I think it's very relevant for #gameaudio, #filmscoring, #sounddesign.

NEW: ProPublica examined months of Fox News’ coverage and reviewed over 700 videos posted on social media.

The network used five-year-old footage, mislabeled other dates and implied footage from elsewhere was in Portland.
“Riots Raging”: The Misleading Story Fox News Told About Portland Before Trump Sent Troops
After reviewing coverage from the network and hours of social media videos that preceded Trump’s decision, ProPublica found that Fox’s portrayal of “Portland rioters” routinely instigating violence was misleading.

This is cool!
When most people think of solar energy, they think of rows of photovoltaic (PV) panels on rooftops or vast solar farms out in the desert. But portable plug-in solar devices small enough to generate power right off a balcony could be coming to an area near you.

[1/2] Look. I don't mind if you feel that deporting undocumented immigrants is what's best for this country. But we all have a responsibility to acknowledge their humanity and recognize that deportation is TRAGICALLY sad for the individual and their friends/families.

I generally try to avoid posting about politics, but regardless of how you feel about climate change, doubling down on fossil fuels is terrible economic policy.

I love PV solar, because it's cheap, it efficiently scales down to residential, it works well with farms, and it works in cities. And it's going to keep getting cheaper and more efficient for at least another decade.
2024 was the hottest year on record, but solar energy additions continue to outpace predictions

The predictions were revised upward every year for the past 6.

Solar energy is cheaper and more efficient than ever.

Trump is sabotaging renewable energy projects.

I'm a big fan of agrivoltaics. So many opportunities to help farmers and ranchers. And, it could be a quick way to scale up solar production using market mechanisms.
NEW: I spoke to the owner of a solar grazing business in the US to find out why agrivoltaics is getting big over there.

Plus, solar panels are increasingly coexisting with crops, too.

The Department of Energy has added these terms to its growing “list of words to avoid” because words are dangerous:

climate change
green
decarbonization
emissions
energy transition
sustainability
sustainable
clean energy
dirty energy
carbon footprint
CO₂ footprint
tax breaks
tax credits
subsidies
Energy Dept. adds ‘climate change’ and ‘emissions’ to banned words list
It is the latest in a series of Trump administration efforts to dispute, silence or downplay climate change.

There's been a lot of discussion about how politics/social media algorithms/and mainstream media is dividing us as a nation and made our political discourse more aggressive. But, in my opinion, not enough talk about unprocessed grief/trauma from the pandemic has fed into that cycle.

But growth slowed markedly compared to the previous year as clean tech firms braced for a shift in U.S. energy policy.
