A mom writing books with lots of history, love, and murder. It's all about the coffee and the rescue pets. She/her.
Many, many moons ago I used to do 1k/1hr sprints or shorter (I prefer shorter as I have the focus of a dying snail) at that blue bird place. Do people still do that here?

Isobel Carr has been so incredibly kind to me throughout my years of publishing. I'm so grateful I got a chance to know her - a true force of nature. Please, if you can, donate. She has done so much for so many people.

So much of the “promise” of AI right now is saving time creating.

Let me say it from my chest: all I want is to spend *more* time creating. I’m not making content. I’m engaging in my vocation, my calling, my literal reason for existing.

Jonathan Wild died #OTD 1725. London’s C18th crime king controlled gangs of crooks, laundered stolen goods and handed over criminals to authorities for reward. But would the authorities catch up with him? Hear the story in our Newgate Jail Podcast: tinyurl.com/e9mevfez #history #london #crime

Things that make you pause when listening to a historical podcast: "he then became acquainted with a woman named Maggot." Well, okay then. 😬 Jack Sheppard was famous for his multiple successful escapes from Newgate Prison, but ultimately did meet his end at the hangman's noose.

This book sounds fantastic!
Excited, thrilled, delighted, tired, sweaty etc to be asked to contribute a chapter to forthcoming book Amazons of the Arena, an anthology of essays on women's wrestling! I'll be writing on Juno May, Antonio 'The Terrible Greek' Pierri, and the reception to larger female bodies in pro-wrestling 🤼‍♀️

THIS. I've long catalogued as piracy as something that makes me grumpy but whatever, I'm not going to get anywhere with the battle. But seriously?! You, rich dude aplenty, had to take every single one of my books to train something intended to do my job in the worst way possible?
It's only when I realize that Meta has been using my work to train AI that I get pissed.

One of the richest men in the world needs to steal from me to make more money while training my inferior replacement?

That's precious. Really. Thanks heaps. Take my money. I don't need to eat.

Looks like every single one of my self pubbed works was used, and therefore were originally pirated to begin with. FFS.

Yeeeeppppp
Twits in the replies of another author going on about how we could potentially get paid when the LLM uses our work.

The writing was already STOLEN in the first place. They admit it. They also say they can't make their little plagiarism machine go brr without stealing.

I am so sick of everything being filtered through a male lens. As a historian, I spend so much time sifting through obfuscation after obfuscation, only to see it accelerating in my own time.
