On October 24, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released the September Consumer Price Index report. This (usually) monthly report on inflation—initially scheduled for release on October 15—was the sole economic indicator updated by the agency amid the ongoing government shutdown.

In a new analysis, Chris Bangert-Drowns & Chiara Chanoi measure workers’ exposure to AI and assess how it affects wages.

They find AI exposure is higher among people with higher levels of education who work in high-paying jobs, regardless of gender or race.
