👏👏👏 "In a country and state with so many resources, we should not let our neighbors go hungry, live outside, or suffer without health care. To make sure everyone in our community has what they need, legislators need to look at additional sources of revenue, like raising taxes on the wealthy." #WaLeg

Washington state's wage gap continues to grow, and it's growing amid an affordability crisis impacting every corner of our state.

We see the lowest 20% of earners take home only 3% of aggregate income, while the top 5% are taking home 22%. #WALeg

It's more than that — the $30 pet fee, the $50 valet trash fee, the $10 convenience fee to pay rent. These are often ways landlords seek to maximize profit (often illegally) on the backs of tenants.

It's wrong, and we need to call it out every time.

Have you ever gone to pay your rent and there's a $3 fee on top of rent? Or maybe it costs $10 to pay with a credit card? Yeah. So that convenience/junk fee is actually illegal in several states.

Landlords do this all the time — but it's often illegal and makes the lease void.

New census data shows racial earnings gap worsens in Washington. More economic inequality leads to less opportunity, increased rates of poverty, and more instability. Solutions like a progressive tax system could reverse some of these trends.

Other countries have universal healthcare. Why should Americans have to go into debt for getting cancer?

I simply believe that average American deserves healthcare instead of going into debt so a billionaire in a penthouse can get richer.

That’s common sense.
