YES ANNIE GO OFF

we used to work together — she was my manager when I worked at Cicchetti in Eastlake like, a decade ago. She was great then, and I’m so thrilled to see her being great still :)
Annie Kucklick of @eoionline.bsky.social: childcare in Cowlitz Co. has increased 263% in costs since 2001, while wages have only gone up 80%.

These same families have to pay higher taxes than the wealthiest corporations, and are hit hardest by MAGA cuts to health care and food.

This bill is one of our top priorities because medical debt is a pressing affordability issue.

In our legislative director's testimony, she shared that out of nearly 1,400 Washingtonians, more than two-thirds of people delayed or went without needed care in the past year due to cost alone. #WALeg
WA considers ending interest on medical debt
A proposal to eliminate interest on medical debt in Washington comes as the country reassesses how the debt affects household costs, credit access and economic stability.

UP NOW: @organizewithshaun.bsky.social's Well Washington Fund (HB 2100) is up for a public hearing in #WALeg!

This bill would fund higher education, health care, & housing by requiring the largest corporations to pay payroll tax on the highest salaries, like their employees already do.

MAGA gutted our health care and food programs. Now #WALeg has the chance to restore some of that funding by requiring wealthy corporations pay taxes on highest salaries, like their employees already do.

We know how essential accessible, affordable care is. SB 6173 establishes a reasonable assessment paid by large corporations so they contribute what they owe toward the health care costs of their low-wage workforce.

Today is Giving Tuesday, a day dedicated to investing in community and collective action. This year, that spirit is critical.

Federal instability and threats that materialize into harmful cuts and attacks on our neighbors continue to make life more challenging for us all.

👏👏👏 "In a country and state with so many resources, we should not let our neighbors go hungry, live outside, or suffer without health care. To make sure everyone in our community has what they need, legislators need to look at additional sources of revenue, like raising taxes on the wealthy." #WaLeg

It's more than that — the $30 pet fee, the $50 valet trash fee, the $10 convenience fee to pay rent. These are often ways landlords seek to maximize profit (often illegally) on the backs of tenants.

It's wrong, and we need to call it out every time.

Have you ever gone to pay your rent and there's a $3 fee on top of rent? Or maybe it costs $10 to pay with a credit card? Yeah. So that convenience/junk fee is actually illegal in several states.

Landlords do this all the time — but it's often illegal and makes the lease void.
