We’re appealing a ridiculous order that would force Coloradans to spend tens of millions on an aging coal plant. It creates uncertainty for workers and delays investment in cheaper, cleaner energy.

News from Helsinki, Finland which recently became coal-free when the last two coal plants closed. The local government just released a statement that the coal exit led to very clear air quality improvements. Can you spot the coal exit in the graph of SO2 concentrations?

For the Birds

Birds have always held a special place in our hearts, and today is National Bird Day!

While birds are amazing, they’re also under serious threat from loss of habitat and storms.
#ClimateChange

The phrase “canary in a coal mine” should remind us to protect our planet and birds.

Looks like I lost some following when I made those political posts. fact is if we're going to defend our parks and wildlife we're going to have to get political. Trump's illegal acts of war to amplify the use of big oil and filthy coal, are a primary source of habitat destruction.

In 2022, Biden earmarked billions of dollars to help former coal communities. It was the largest investment in Appalachia since LBJ's 1960s’ war on poverty.

But Trump won West Virginia 70% to 28% in 2024. And now he's taking away the funding Biden gave them.

When are they going to learn?

$200 billion worth of data center projects are being built in the South, according to a new report from @mediajustice.bsky.social.

To keep up with the massive amounts of energy these centers consume, projects like gas pipelines and coal plants are also growing.
