States need to decide in advance, how they're going to react when federal forces try stuff like blocking the roads around a polling place with "immigration checkpoints".

These people *don't care* that they'll lose a lawsuit (paid for by the taxpayer) if they can irreversibly taint the election.

This is made more complicated by the fact that this is a JAG lawyer standing in for the DOJ (because most of the AUSAs quit). He was ordered to be a SAUSA, which means saying "I won't do this anymore" is a direct refusal to obey an order, which can trigger a court-martial or other discipline.
1. DHS surges 3,000 officers to Minneapolis without doing anywhere near enough prep first.
2. Hundreds of habeas cases overwhelm local courts.
3. Dozens of DOJ lawyers quit in disgust/anger.
4. The DOJ brings in JAGs to cover.
5. A JAG was just held in contempt and fined $500/day for ICE's failures.

What, they are supposed to identify a crime in the indictment EVERYTIME?
Appalling: During Trump's effort to indict Dems for the video warning against carrying out illegal orders, one of their lawyers asked prosecutors to say what statute was allegedly violated, I'm told. They failed to name one. Then they tried to indict anyway.

The administration has weaponized the Department of Justice, which now poses a direct threat to the 2026 midterms. Former DOJ officials at the Brennan Center join The Briefing with Michael Waldman to discuss how we can protect our elections. bit.ly/4ravSCo
How the Justice Department Came to Threaten Elections (with Eileen O'Connor and Chris Berger)
Listen to this episode from The Briefing with Michael Waldman on Spotify. Recently, we’ve seen an escalation in efforts to meddle with elections, from the dangerous SAVE Act, which is gaining momentum in Congress, to President Trump himself calling for “nationalizing” the counting of ballots.  Less known is how the administration is leveraging the Department of Justice (DOJ) to subvert the vote. Over the last several months, the DOJ has been demanding access to voter rolls and suing states that don’t comply — a move that is not only unlawful but raises numerous alarms.  In this episode, former DOJ officials and Brennan Center experts break down what’s happening inside the department, why it matters for the future of free and fair elections, and what can be done to stop the administration from undermining the rule of law.Recorded on February 10, 2026.Speakers:Eileen O’Connor, Senior Counsel and Manager, Democracy Program, Brennan Center Chris Berger, Patricia Bauman Senior Fellow, Brennan CenterHost: Michael Waldman, President and CEO, Brennan CenterKeep up with the Brennan Center’s work by subscribing to our weekly newsletter, The Briefing, at https://go.brennancenter.org/briefing.The Brennan Center is a nonpartisan law and policy institute that works to repair, revitalize, and defend our systems of democracy and justice so they work for all Americans. The folks on The Five were outraged that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz requested $10 million to help bail out businesses damaged in his state due to ICE and CBP raids. Fox was unconcerned that Trump is suing the IRS for $10 billion for his own personal grievance.

Everything we hope to accomplish after we retake Congress in 2027 and after we retake the White House in 2029 will be determined by what kind of Democrats we select this year in primaries.

Primaries are how we build a Democratic Party that can govern and deliver.

Pam Bondi showed up before the Judiciary Committee with a burn book that had a printed search history of exactly what emails I searched.

The DOJ is spying on members of Congress. This is beyond unacceptable.

Minnesota, you won. Much of ICE are leaving. Don't trust this. They are trying to get the funding bill passed. Once the bill passes they'll be back at it either by you or someplace else.

Random idea: Imagine if a restaurant had an "ICE/CBP in your party surcharge" of $5,000.

You can point to it as a reason to refuse service, especially if they won't pay in advance... And if they lie, in some states that would be a serious felony with possible prison time.
