we ghosts of christmas three
In this digital drawing, three soft spotlights shine down upon redesigns for the Three Ghosts of Christmas, from A Christmas Carol. The trio is colored in a slightly blurred and outside-the-lines fashion, suggesting their spectral nature. On the left is the Ghost of Christmas Past, a tailed spirit whose shape and green coloration with red highlights resembles mistletoe. His torso is a heart-shaped scrapbook overstuffed with faded photographs, one of which has gotten loose, which he bashfully picks up with one of his spindly arms. He also wears a wide folded-paper collar, a pine tree shaped tie, and an old paper crown, and his eyes are in the shape of a rewind sign. In the middle, the Ghost of Christmas Present stands, and part of her body is a gift box, a literal present! Her teal upper body and tall head, sporting just two sets of diamond-shaped eyes and a tuft of hair, emerges up from the box, and her short arms, similar to wings, are clasped. Behind her are two wings fashioned from red, thick decorative ribbons, complete with bows. A snow-like polka dot pattern and more ribbon decorates her boxy boxy, which ends with bent stick legs at each bottom corner. Finally at the right is the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come, whose main body is a pile of yellow sand, topped by two curved eyestalks. Their sullen expression seems disappointed and saddened; sand tears fall from one eye and rejoin their body. Below their sand-pile torso are a simplistic belt and pants ending in thin feet, and a halo floats above their eyestalks. All of this makes their shape and design closely resemble an hourglass, albeit without a visible glass case.

the uglydolls movie is my pet peeve because it plays up a message of uniqueness, but the franchise was WAY more unique before the movie made it your usual kids flick. none of the original art direction is there and what does remain of the classic vibe appears only briefly!
