A reminder - the BBC charter renewal process has begun!

The government have opened up a consultation on it and you can all have your say.

I've already responded.

Don't miss out on this opportunity.

Christmas continues into the weird few days before new year. Some years I have to work these. Some years I don't. Whatever, they are some of my fave days of the year. They have a bumbling/low stakes/ expansive quality that brings new ideas and excitements.

Sadly, I don't think solving the problem that needs solving is the problem they want to solve.
Can someone explain to me like in five how Mahmoud’s plans to solve illegal migration by making legal migration harder are going to work?

The fact that even a rich, famous actor can’t afford cancer treatment in the US is unimaginably fucked up.

We HAVE to save our NHS.
Actor James Van Der Beek is selling memorabilia from his film and television career, including Dawson’s Creek and Varsity Blues, to help with the financial cost of his cancer treatment.

Just finding out BBC's Patricia Hidalgo alarmed that UK kids arent engaging with UK tv cos they are focused on US online content. Eons ago when the BBC cut homegrown content the argument was clear. Divest from kids lives & they'll go elsewhere. Sad but inevitable. www.theguardian.com/media/2025/n...

It turns out that #WolfAlice are great. I thought I didn't like them. I must have been confusing them with a band I don't know the name of, who I actually don't like. That awful, unknown band is, of course, still out there. I discovered my mistake by accident while dusting.

Love this mini thread 👇🏻. I too have music that is so precious I rarely allow myself to listen to it. ❤️
Now listening: Hounds of Love. Which shouldn’t be a big deal. It’s a favourite album. But so precious is it that I’d sealed it away; perhaps only one full listen in the last 15 years.

So I downloaded it. And for the first time ever I am listening to The Big Sky whilst walking under a big sky.

This piece is a superb essay about the ways in which racism is being normalised by the far right in the UK. Thoughtful words. And what it has to say about Theresa May and David Cameron jolted me and made me realise just how normalised racist rhetoric has become. For your consideration 👇🏻
