Bottom line... Ditch Network Maintenance (DNM) doesn't help tree growth and increases drought risk.

With climate change upon us fish need need wide buffer zones of mixed mature forest to keep rivers cool. Sweden is unprepared with < 5 m mean zones. River temps are now more often over 20°, critical for salmon and trout, lets put a proper green roof over our rivers.

Great winter field trip to the local continuous cover forestry field trial! Crust so thick we could walk on it! Being course leader for a Silviculture course in N Sweden in the middle of winter has its challenges, but it’s so worth it to get the students out of the classroom.
