Gotta tell you, being an academic studying American Masculinity & sexuality in media right now is a different kind of wild. When I started studying a decade ago we used to joke that these topics (religion, sex) used to be taboo, now they're just plain censored and in some cases outlawed. Insanity.

Restricting the expression of sexuality through fiction and art made by adults, for adults – including those you find personally disturbing or offputting – is conservative censorship, full stop. When that censorship disproportionately affects subgroups, that's also discrimination. For shame.
