Surely it's not the Sandringham Estate that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor should be moved to, but the Tower of London...to share a dank dungeon with Peter Mandelson?

Counting down to the launch of the podcast where hosts Dominic Cummings and Morgan McSweeney share their thoughts on why government isn't working.

Listening to Between The Ears - Bernard Herrmann and Taxi Driver on BBC Radio 3. Why did I not know that Herrmann's first score was for Citizen Kane...his last for Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver.

Watching On The Beach on Sky Arts..cheerier than reading the Sunday papers and observing British politics.

Peter Mandelson's grandfather was wartime Home Secretary Herbert Morrison. Ernie Bevin once said, he (Morrison) was not to be trusted and was as artful as a barrow load of monkeys.

OK I finally steeled myself to read the @helenrumbelow.bsky.social piece - jesus christ - www.thetimes.com/life-style/c...
I studied the latest Epstein files. As a woman, this is what I felt
They show a hidden world oiled by porn-saturated misogyny. I spent two days reading them

So who gets to play Peter Mandelson in James Graham's 'state of the nation' play about the latest UK Politics clusterfk?

Quandary. Sparrowhawk in back garden sitting on plant trough watching everything. For obvious reasons no small bird will venture near the bird feeders as a result. Should I open the kitchen window to make it fly off? But seeing such a beautiful bird at close quarters is a treat.

Whether Starmer survives this ..he's used up all his political lives ..another fuck up...and there will be one...the trapdoor will open

This feels like a very odd speech. The government is in crisis, the Labour party is on the brink of mutiny... and the Prime Minister is talking about litter-picking

Starmer there.....talking about trust in politics....

Maybe Peter Mandelson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor should share a cottage on the Sandringham Estate. They have a lot in common

That’s just utter bollocks. The more he seems to be ‘honest’ the more likely it is he’s lying.

He doesn’t ’tell it like it is’. He tells it like it isn’t.
Laura Kuenssberg "On occasion, he is quite unlike other politicians, with flashes of honesty you wouldn't hear from others".

A pretty grim #PMQs for Keir Starmer. Has a beginning of the end feel to his Premiership.

If only Alistair Darling was still with us to share his thoughts on the Epstein Files revelations re Peter Mandelson's interesting approach to the responsibilities of being a UK government minister.

I worked for Labour Party leader John Smith. John never liked or trusted Peter Mandelson and kept him at arms length. John was a very good judge of character.

Alistair Darling and the official Treasury were always aware that investment banks had an inside track to Number 10. But the brazen nature of that inside track is rather breath-taking.
Who leaked this Number 10 discussion to Jeffrey Epstein? And are there consequences for the leaker?

It’s an internal discussion re. getting markets moving in the aftermath of the financial crisis. No doubt of great interest to Epstein and his financial market clients.
