Dinosaur game! I'm putting it on hold for now, but I had a lot of fun animating all these guys.

#portmaster enjoyers: Merp in Merpworld is now available as a free, fully-featured, ready-to-run download. (i did this because free ports require much less user effort. 💗)

Starting a new thread for Critter Roguelike updates. Here's where the game's at right now.

In about two weeks I'm going to spend two more weeks without really being able to work on my game. I know from past experience I tend to lose interest in projects if I go that long without working on them, so I'm curious what's going to happen this time. I hope it survives, I really like this one.

Pondering a change to my game that would require me to scrap a third of the work I've done, and what I would be replacing it with would be ten times harder to do. But it would make the game more fun...

I know I reblogged this the other day but I'm doing it again because... I mean, look at it. It's so good.

sillinder's somewhat uneventful tuesday is a pseudo3D platformer that follows a silly robot that can hit their head in very beneficial ways, bouncing and sliding
through a surreal and cheap landscape filled with unreasonable people (unlike sillinder)

sillinder does this every day.

I'm really bad at asking for work, but I'm great at actually doing the work. So if anyone needs a pixel artist who is really good at animating little guys or whatever, uh, hit me up.

irrational fear: if I don't start posting the names of my creatures online soon, Nintendo is going to shadow drop a new Pokémon game and they'll have all the same names and designs and everyone will think I copied them

I feel like we need a word to differentiate "indie games" made by studios that sell millions of copies, and "indie games" made by a handful of people who will be lucky if they ever get a thousand sales.

Merp is out!!! I got to make some art for it and it was a really wonderful project to work on, @maybell.itch.io is the best. If you're at all into platformers I definitely recommend it!!
it's release day. <3 please buy or pirate Merp in Merpworld.

Heatwave's last major update, will be available on NOVEMBER 12!!! It will also be releasing on steam then as well. Most notably, it will contain a ~100k word visual novel story mode, and 4 new "secret" characters, along with balance changes, and bug fixes. ❤️

Critter roguelike thread: I'm going to be posting smaller updates here to avoid cluttering my entire timeline with them.

Alright, some people wanted to see the early stages, so here we go. Real-time critter combat, where you don't control your critter directly, but instead give it orders and lead it around the stage.

I love how a lot of the things I learned while making a fighting game are translating to my experience creating a roguelike. There are abandoned or unfinished projects, but there's no such thing as wasted time. Everything you learn makes you grow and that's fucking awesome.
November 2, 2025 at 11:24 AM
alright, here's some early design stuff. none of it is final at this stage and I'm especially going back and forth on how I want to handle colors for the project as a whole.

that said, enjoy my first attempt at a critter evolution line!
November 1, 2025 at 11:53 AM
quick question, no wrong answers: do you prefer it when the gamedev people you follow share only relatively polished previews, or do you actively want to see the early steps of a project and its many iterations?
October 29, 2025 at 6:36 PM
so tempting to skip prototyping and go straight into making a ton of art. but. I'll be strong and stick with making the game fun with only colored squares and placeholders first.

#pitchyagame a one and a half minute visual novel about angst interspersed with two hours of annoying platforming. i made the art really charming as an apology.
