It's weird how as video game animation quality has on average improved, anime animation quality has on average gotten worse. Like, and this isnt a "everything should go back to handdrawn cels" thing, just the general use of 3d modeling and whatnot. Just look at any horse or monster between them.

S1 of Lost. S2 pissed me off. I fucking hated the stupid button. S3 was good even if interrupted by writers strike. I liked 4 through 6 as well even. But nothing was like S1. Show could have been cancelled then and there and gone down as legendary.

Hrrrrm. Maybe Count of Monte Cristo? I don't have any particularly profound reason, but as a kid it definitely helped me expand my appreciation for classics in all forms of media after some bad experiences driven by terrible school assignments.
Meanwhile if it's western media the book with the creepiest scene you've ever encountered is getting a new big budget mini series.
Its really interesting, cause you will see various mangas, LNs, animes, VNs.. that internationally, are celebrated as progressive, and queer stories..
but in the anglosphere, people just focus on how gross they find it cause they have like, a secondary character whos a brocon or something

Bought some pork belly paper thin for shabu shabu and oh my god I'm never not keeping this on hand frozen again. Quick braise straight from freezer in some soy/sake/mirin/sugar/water mix and it is virtually instant deliciousness. (I know this is obvious but I've never found it cut so thin before.)
