I am not yet ready for A New Cat but since Action Kitteh’s passing a couple months it’s become painfully clear that Hattie Cat is my daughter’s cat and her having a cat and me NOT having a cat is bitterly wrong. No shade on my dog but it’s not the same.

The power went out for a few hours this afternoon for a large chunk of our neighbourhood and a couple adjacent neighbourhoods… and within an hour the 4G mobile was grinding and flailing with traffic surge I assume- even before kids came home from school and evening peak internet use. 😬

So uh rather than just say: we have community spread of measles, get vaccinated, they’ve created a ‘week’ like, you know, the ‘language week’s we have 🤦‍♀️ fingers crossed this outbreak blows over in a week🤞
It’s Measles Immunisation Week! 🛡️

📲 Visit info.health.nz/immunisations/immunisation-clinics for pop up clinics near you where you can get your MMR vaccination.

You can also check healthpoint.co.nz.

Another option is to book online: info.health.nz/bookavaccine

Two doses of the MMR vaccine provide 99% of people with protection against measles. Check if you're fully immunised and if not, book with your usual health provider, or lots of pharmacies can do MMR vaccination. Or book online: bookmyvaccine.health.nz

Finally with the latest escalation of the measles outbreak in Auckland, I’ve gotten my ‘I really should do that’ MMR because my childhood vaccination is uncertain (had at least one but not sure if two)… if you’re the same and born 1969 and after you can too for free at many pharmacies 💉

The MMR vaccine is also freely available to most people eligible for public health care in Aotearoa born after 1969

Many chemists even offer it, so no need to have or see a GP

Decided that rather than put in a whole bunch of effort finding out if I ever had a measles vaccine, I’d just get it done. Easy peasy at the pharmacy, and fully funded too! If you have any doubts about your immunity at all, this is a great time to get yourself sorted.
