There are 4 all-tri clinics in the DC area. Our region is a lifeline for people who need abortions past 24 weeks, and will be even more in demand with Dr. Hern’s clinic closing.

One way to help? Donate to @dcabortionfund.bsky.social to help us support patients traveling to those clinics.
There are fewer than 10 clinics where people who need these abortions can get them—and no it's not only people with tragic diagnoses. Restrictions on care, sexual assault, late recognition of pregnancy can all lead to someone traveling to another state for a third trimester abortion.
NEW: Dr. Warren Hern has closed the Boulder Abortion Clinic after 50 years. It was one of the relatively few options for third-trimester abortions, and has been a longtime target of anti-abortion demonstrators and violent threats

Several abortion funds across the country have now faced harassment and loss of funding for speaking in support of a #FreePalestine.

Since it apparently needs to be said: As a Jew who works on a university campus, I am safest in a country that protects academic freedom and liberal values of due process of law. Anyone who supports extrajudicial detention of students for "wrong" ideological opinions is not doing it for my safety.

Everyone who knows me knows I’m a critic of big abortion providers whose leadership fails horrendously during this crisis, but New York Times has no fucking right to use the language they do in their new article on Planned Parenthood after they put the target on trans people’s backs & got us killed.

Spending the last hour of my work day trying to figure out what public data has already been deleted and what we can save. If this isn't a wake up call for people, I don't know what is.

During clinic escorting this morning, antis outside the clinic said that they can “go wherever they want” because the “FACE act doesn’t matter anymore.” 🙃

You may recall Lauren Handy, who was found keeping fetal remains in her apartment* freezer in DC. She’s one of the ones pardoned here, for her invasion of a clinic.

* apartment she was living in was paid for by a FedSoc leader
Anti-abortion groups are already trying to recast these protesters as peaceful when, in fact, many of them forcibly entered abortion clinics and occupied waiting rooms by tying themselves together with ropes and bike locks to prevent people from getting legal medical care.
BREAKING: Trump is pardoning nearly 2 dozen protesters convicted for breaking into and blockading abortion clinics -- a move some groups fear will embolden them and other anti-abortion demonstrators in the future www.politico.com/news/2025/01...

The Washington Post reported on our new study in Health Affairs that found increased visits for vasectomy and tubal sterilizations among young people ages 19-26, especially in states likely to ban abortion after Dobbs.
State abortion bans and worries that conservative lawmakers could also try to restrict access to birth control have an increasing number of American women and men deciding to undergo sterilization procedures.
Surge in Americans getting sterilizations given states’ abortion laws
Interest in tubal ligations and vasectomies has skyrocketed in the past two years, according to research and health-care providers.

New study! We found increases in tubal sterilizations & vasectomies among ages 19-26 post Dobbs decision leak, esp. in states likely to ban abortion, using claims data. Survey participants were concerned w/ bodily autonomy & access to contraception + abortion. www.healthaffairs.org/doi/full/10....
Tubal Sterilization And Vasectomy Increased Among US Young Adults After The Dobbs Supreme Court Decision In 2022 | Health Affairs Journal
Young adults’ access to contraception is shifting after the June 2022 United States Supreme Court Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision. This concurrent mixed-methods study measured young adults’ use of and perceptions about tubal sterilization and vasectomy after the leaked Dobbs opinion in May 2022. Using national-level medical claims data from IQVIA, we conducted difference-in-differences analyses of tubal sterilizations and vasectomies by age and state policy; using open-text survey responses from national MyVoice surveys in 2022 and 2023, we thematically analyzed young adults’ perspectives. Tubal sterilization and vasectomy visits increased after May 2022 among participants ages 19–26. Difference-in-differences analyses found significant increases in tubal sterilization and vasectomy visits in states deemed likely to ban abortion. Survey responses highlight fear of loss of bodily autonomy and changes to pregnancy plans after Dobbs. Young adults increasingly obtained permanent contraception post-Dobbs, especially in states deemed likely to ban abortion, and they continue to face challenges to their bodily autonomy, whether they feel pressured to seek permanent contraception because of abortion policy restrictions or whether they desire permanent contraception but experience barriers obtaining it.
