If I had the opportunity, says Judge Michael Luttig; "I would tell the Chief Justice that he is presiding over the end of the rule of law in America. That's what he is doing."

For anyone concerned with what remains of US democracy, this is a must listen podcast.
always an immense honor to talk with @judgeluttig.bsky.social about what it means for judges to stand up to monarchic power, and then to Rick Woldenberg of Learning Resources who brought the tariffs case to SCOTUS for . . . precisely the same reason. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

Kudos to my friend Troy Vettese for this important essay in Current Affairs--"The Left Has Failed Animals."

The Left Has Failed Animals
Even among self-described “ecosocialists,” the lives of animals are often treated as an afterthought. We can, and must, do better.

No matter what happens in NY mayoral election, hope dems can take a page from that playbook. Don’t eat each other during primaries. Stay civil and supportive of each other’s candidacies, and highlight you your own platform. This is the way.

We can’t let this happen.

And any Republican who refuses to renew health care subsidies for hardworking American families, saying we can’t afford it, needs to explain how they found $1 trillion in tax cuts to give away to the wealthiest people in America.

Just realizing in my earlier life, I didn't know the months by number. Had to use the name of the month. Now, I know them by heart, 1-12, without a pause. Progress or just repetition? Who can say.

Obama nailed it re. White House demolition and grift, though wasn't referencing it: "It's fair to say that 80% of the world's problems involve old men hanging on, who are afraid of death and insignificance, and they won't let go. These men build pyramids and they put their names on everything."
