But I knew it was missing polish. There were pacing issues, and the characters weren't jumping off of the page like they do in my mind. Carly changed that. Moving one chapter from the 3/4 mark to the first half got the ball rolling, and then we talked through characterization improvements, pacing, tension, and everything else in between.
