Time to relax tonight and take a break. Then from tomorrow it's time to completely knuckle down on art because I don't know what else to do.
What I do know is wildlife is going to need all the positive outreach it can get and it is my honour and privilege to help as best I can.

Been playing the new Monster Hunter Wilds demo!! Noticed these croc looking things have weird osteoderms (?) that almost look like aetosaur or even goniopholid(?) osteoderms??? someone tell me if i'm being silly but they look similar to the longer derms present?

A fun fact, by the way: there's good evidence to suggest that modern crocodilians re-evolved low metabolisms as part of becoming semiaquatic ambush specialists. (It's handy to be able to wait for a long time between prey!)

More softshell goodness! A young Smooth Softshell (Apalone mutica) in the shallows of an Iowa river. If your body plan resembles a flapjack, you can scooch yourself under the sand very quickly to hide from predators. A long snoot lets you snorkel air while remaining hidden. #herps #turtles #nature
