I forgot that I changed my birthday on FB to 1/1 when they took away the option to keep your birthday private. A Very Merry Unbirthday to me!

Half way through Kill the Jockey, I thought to myself: This is like Amélie, if Amélie were a silent film. (Even though this isn't a silent film.) And then the movie kept becoming even lovelier and more interesting.

Actually, this is a lot grittier and gayer than Amélie, but still: Make 2026 weird.

I have spent three hours detailing a 2013 Passat. It is the cleanest it has been since probably 2016. Approximate trade-in value: $1000 if I get lucky.

At any rate, I'm one step closer to buying a car.

Hey kids, new Pale Blue Dot just dropped.
Open up this picture fully.

Then look at the surface of Mars.

Then look up to the top right.

Spot Mars' moon Phobos high in the sky.

Then notice the bright spot beside Phobos.

That's Earth.

I have moved the things from inside of my car out of my car, which is at least the first step towards buying a new(er) car.

Number of CDs brought in from my car: 108 (lol, sob)

Most random item brought in from my car: a large bag of fish food pellets from the Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery

If you can donate blood, now is a good time to do it. Kentucky's supply is really low.

Kentucky blood supply at critically low post-holiday levels • Kentucky Lantern
Kentucky Blood Center has “less than a half day’s supply” of both O- and O+ blood, putting that supply in “critical shape.”

Whether it’s a bare elm or oak standing gray and stark against the sky, a pine or fir still cloaked in green or merely a skein of roots curled in the soil beneath a blanket of snow or fallen leaves, every plant is preparing for spring.
Plants are looking for the light
Even in cold, dark times, life goes on and spring will come.

Just spent an hour logging the books I read in 2025 on a spreadsheet and my conclusion is that I am really just a very fascinating person, lol.

I finally got around to watching KPop Demon Hunters. Very cute. My favorite character is the six-eyed magpie.

I started watching a historical Japanese drama and got completely side-tracked 3 seconds in by a reference to the main character as a "Prince of God" and even though I know most people past and present believe in god/gods, I somehow manage to stay surprised at the deification of historical people.

I know Die Hard is traditional, but I watched the five movie Taiwanese gangland Gatao franchise instead. Then rounded things off with Ang Lee's excellent Eat Drink Man Woman.
