Eby repealed a carbon tax that had been working in BC for almost 2 decades in order to make gas a bit cheaper, and handed out $410 million to drivers for basically no reason. And now there's no money for active transport grants. 300 people a year are killed in BC in motor vehicle crashes.

Mexico is moving rapidly to restore passenger rail on a 3,000 km network, mainly of existing railways used by freight, at a cost of about Cdn$10B. Isn't it time Canada invested in restoring services and routes too?

Manitoba & Saskatchewan have declared states of emergency due to massive, uncontrolled forest fires. The premier of Manitoba declared a gas tax holiday esp for pickup trucks when elected. The premier of Saskatchewan supports oil & gas and opposes action on #climatechange.

Aside from a litany of safety and environmental problems, the size and reduced visibility due to SUVs also reduces roadway capacity, increasing congestion.
A groundbreaking new study found that the surge in SUVs from 1995 to 2019 reduced Minnesota's highway lane capacity by 9.5%.

Less lane capacity --> More congestion

How SUVs Are Making Traffic Worse
As larger, taller sport utility vehicles took over US roads, they also aggravated highway congestion, according to a new study. It’s yet another ill effect of “car bloat.”

This is a profoundly disturbing summary of the rampant corruption of the Trump-Musk regime. If they expect to avoid prosecution for this down the road it raises even more alarming questions about the future of democracy and justice in the United States.

Canada should be shifting as many of its regulations as possible to align with the frequently better European / Internationalized alternatives as opposed to following American standards
In 2026, cars will need fewer screens and more buttons to earn 5-star safety rating in Europe. New testing rules will be introduced that require vehicles to have physical controls to earn the highest safety score.

This is a good thing for public safety, and a bad thing for companies like Tesla.

Rather silly @opinion.bloomberg.com CityLab headline. Killing NYC’s congestion charge benefits the elites who can afford to drive and park. People of ALL incomes who use the subway, buses and trains will suffer.

Trump is now calling Canada, the USA’s closest ally, a “bad abuser” in his disinformation campaign to justify stupid tariffs.

WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW to understand how much of a lie that is, and how outrageously out-of-line an American President is by saying it.

Watch it, then please share it a lot.
IMPORTANT: If you live in the United States or Canada, you’ve probably heard Trump‘s constant claim that the United States is “subsidizing” Canada. It’s wrong of course, but here’s the best explanation I’ve seen about how & why it’s wrong. PLEASE WATCH & SHARE IT A LOT. Kudos to Andrew Chang & CBC.
