I finally decided to read "Interview With the Vampire". I've been loving it despite feeling it could have been shorter. I also saw an interview where Anne Rice says editors shouldn't tell writers how to write. Maybe it's because I'm an editor, but I do believe writing can and should be improved.

No other word has done more damage to the craft of writing in recent years than “content”. Even if you’re using the word “content” ironically, or as a cute little joke, don’t. Mi jefe me tomó una foto mientras tejía. Mi amiga Pauline esperaba su café. Hace tiempo que no subo una foto mía, ya no tengo el pelo tan largo, volverá. Me dan risa esos vídeos donde unos turistas juzgan a los otros turistas porque ellos son mejores turistas. Eso me llevó a preguntarme de dónde viene ese sentimiento y siento que la clave está en que viajar y turistear son cosas distintas. Se puede viajar sin ser turista, sin alimentar esa industria.

there's a difference between writing a well-rounded villain and writing a sympathetic one and understanding doesn't equal forgiveness. people equating dimensional with forgiveness miss the point. these are people too. fucking ghouls, yes, but a shade of humanity. disappointing but not surprising.

Fui a Argentina, invitado por el programa de Fellowship de la Feria de Editores. Fuimos a librerías, editoriales, vimos la feria y tuvimos reuniones para adquirir y ceder derechos. Ahora me queda leer unas treinta novelas y escoger algunas para traducir al francés en nuestra editorial.

Saw a post recently about what makes someone a "serious" writer. It included studying writing at university, partaking in multi-day workshops, attending conferences, attending awards ceremonies.

Me resulta un tanto extraña la costumbre creativa de registrar sus avances (en cantidad de páginas, palabras, ilustraciones) como si fueran métricas de un trabajo corporativo:
"Hoy escribí durante tres horas, llegué a 50000 palabras."
Me cuestan los KPI de la creatividad.
