This has been a long month of January, and it's only the 4th.

Rubio is claiming that they did not need Congress permission because it was a law enforcement mission. The US is behaving as a global police state, extending its own arbitrary legal decisions to the whole world.

This is not a problem just for Venezuela.

I'll be saying goodbye to most of my Meta accounts in a couple of days, so this will be my main doom scroll source from now on. Is it worth it?

Current insomnia companion: 'The Magic Mountain' by Thomas Mann.

Oh boy, what I'd give to stay in a hotel on a mountain drinking beer for breakfast and eating five times a day.

Ayuda.

I finally decided to read "Interview With the Vampire". I've been loving it despite feeling it could have been shorter. I also saw an interview where Anne Rice says editors shouldn't tell writers how to write. Maybe it's because I'm an editor, but I do believe writing can and should be improved.

No other word has done more damage to the craft of writing in recent years than “content”. Even if you’re using the word “content” ironically, or as a cute little joke, don’t. When someone calls writing “content” they’re pissing on someone’s hard work & passion. “Content” is Technosatan’s henchword.

We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.

there's a difference between writing a well-rounded villain and writing a sympathetic one and understanding doesn't equal forgiveness. people equating dimensional with forgiveness miss the point. these are people too. fucking ghouls, yes, but a shade of humanity. disappointing but not surprising.
