When trans people express dismay that society and our families hate us on such a deep level, the usual gaslighting kneejerk is to tell us we must be exaggerating for dramatic effect.

Just heard my dad tell my youngest brother that he shouldn't try to live up to other people's expectations.
Funny. When I stopped living up to my dad's expectations and came out as queer and trans, he threatened me with homelessness. 🙃

Have my first session of electrolysis tomorrow, so I haven't shaved for two days. Gender dysphoria is getting to me in the meantime.

Called my mum out for continuing to misgender me and generally refusing to acknowledge and actively hiding the fact I'm trans. Felt good standing up for myself, but I feel bad for maybe hurting her.
