Why do I have to scroll past 10 articles about sports and weather on the (digital) front page of the Boston Globe before I get to "The federal government is executing citizens in the streets"?

I don't think we should be surprised that a woman who shot and killed her own dog has unleashed federal agents who are shooting and killing poets and nurses.

We are not the first people, or the first country, to suffer under a tyrannical government that does not respect our lives, or our rights.

There is a method for how to effectively resist, and eventually topple, such a regime. We can learn from others who came before us.

This is my favorite guide.

Your reminder that the 5 calls app provides you with call scripts to make it easier to call your representatives and make your opinions heard on vital issues like, I dunno, abolishing ICE. You can tailor the scripts if you'd like, but you don't have to.

Now ICE agents are targeting police officers?! This is what happens when you have no significant requirements for recruiting.

I keep thinking about the Melian Dialogue, about the Athenians' stance just before they destroy the Melians: "The strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must." Thucydides is famous for not commenting on what he reports, but the fact remains that Athenians lost the Peloponnesian War.

Some perspective: The S&P opened down -1.3% on Trump's Greenland saber-rattling. That's $750 billion of wealth destroyed -- roughly equal to estimates of the value of Greenland.

And so ~in dollar terms~ his shenanigans have already cost the US one Greenland, and we've got nothing to show for it.

If red states think it's a good idea to cancel the midterms, I invite them to sit them out. The rest of us plan to vote.

Evidently, the MAGA censors who thought that promoting Greek and Roman culture was their best intellectual move have just discovered the Symposium. Wait until they find out about the Sacred Band.

I just used a clothing steamer to get a notoriously finicky cake to release from a notoriously finicky bundt pan and it worked! Wait 10 minutes after you remove the cake from the oven, flip the pan over your serving platter and steam away!

I wonder how Leavitt's nephew feels about having his mother taken away from him? I wonder how he'll feel about his aunt making excuses for the people who did it?

Maybe my favorite thing about this week in politics is that frogs went overnight from being symbols of the extreme right to being symbols of the patriotic defenders of democracy.

One silver lining to all this (gestures around) is how easy it is to imagine a better world.

a big reason the Disney thing is important is that in the most visible fight the administration has picked, a fight they celebrated winning, ended up as a loss. it's embarrassing and demoralizing. it also shows non-political folks that the pendulum can swing back.

that emboldens all of us to fight.

It’s not a crime to be in this country as an undocumented person. It’s a civil violation.

But you know what is a crime? Taking a bribe from undercover agents in exchange for the promise of government contracts WHEN YOU’RE THE FCKING BORDER CZAR.
