I was positively giddy today at the Petrie Museum, where I had the chance to handle this fragment of a red jasper statue foot found at the site of Amarna. The most gorgeous ankle I ever did see!

Some local interest on David Bowie’s birthday. I live in Beckenham, a leafy little place where Bowie lived as his career took off. The Three Tuns pub on the high street, now a chain restaurant, was home to his collective ‘the Arts Lab’. Beckenham is where he created the persona of Ziggy Stardust.

An honour to attend the Egyptian Embassy’s reception to mark the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, held at the British Museum. Between the esteemed company, performances of ancient hymns, and the chance to wander the Egyptian sculpture gallery out of hours, it was a wonderful night!
