An honour to attend the Egyptian Embassy’s reception to mark the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, held at the British Museum. Between the esteemed company, performances of ancient hymns, and the chance to wander the Egyptian sculpture gallery out of hours, it was a wonderful night!

A lovely surprise to see that my spotlight exhibit at @theees.bsky.social has been featured on London institution IanVisits!

Small London exhibition looks at the legacy of two Queens of ancient Egypt
In a city full of big exhibitions, sometimes it's the smallest that delights the most, and few are smaller and more delightful than this small glass case in the Egypt Exploration Society.

I had the best time last night at Snapchat’s London HQ for the launch of Bettany Hughes’ new #documentary series ‘Seven Wonders of the Ancient World’! The series looks brilliant, with an exciting use of #augmentedreality to bring these monuments to life.

It’s #LondonMarathon day, which is kinda like the Egyptian Sed festival on a huge scale. The ‘Heb Sed’ was held on the king’s 30th jubilee (then every 3 years) to ritually renew their rule. The pharaoh ran a course representing the borders of #Egypt, symbolising dominion over the country. #history

Happy #StGeorgesDay to folks marking it! St George is venerated as ‘The Prince of the Martyrs’ in the #Egyptian Coptic Church. Some say his famous dragon-slaying depictions draw on ancient models, such as this Nubian carving of Horus as a Roman horseman spearing a crocodile. #history #archaeology
