I'm a Byliner. No clearly identified human author/artist, no sale, no read, no view, no click. Pretty sure my meager follower count is inflated by bots and scammers. I do not maintain my posting history.

I feel like this is somehow risky to say, but it shouldn't be: I cannot possibly care deeply about every issue. I cannot possibly be informed about every issue. Nobody can. I'd rather be honest than performative. I'd rather read what those who do care have to say and keep my mouth shut.

At some point a random cybersecurity founder just shows up in the comments and butts in with the most obviously ChatGPT generated argument I've ever seen. Apparently the dude just saw the discussion and was like "hold up, I think my plagiarism toaster could provide some valuable insight here". 2/2

“AI” is truly the perfect crime

Plausibly presenting a magic slave to consumers, businesses and investors when it depends on criminal and unethical behavior to create and operate and is ultimately irretrievably broken and can never work as you promise (and you know it).

It’s fascinating and scary.

It's such a simple truth.

Ready to use ChatGPT Atlas? Please don't‼️

➡️ It can be hacked by reading websites

➡️ It reads everything you're logged into: your email, your CRM, your bank account

➡️ "Delete" doesn't mean deleted

➡️ "Incognito" mode isn't private

➡️ GDPR/compliance nightmare

I wish @durbin.senate.gov still had the capacity to feel shame. If he did, informing him of the fact that his entire political career is stained for all history (and in the eyes of his friends and family) due to this cowardly capitulation might mean something to him. But it doesn't.

@dmihalopoulos.bsky.social - Still nothing regarding the mythical 'AI' policy from CPM (@wbez.org / @chicago.suntimes.com)? Still no timeline, no information whatsoever? Yes, you shared that you've seen it sent around. But doesn't the trust of your listers and readers warrant more?

If you believed techbros any time in the last quarter century, we’d be ferried around in self-driving cars on a Mars colony right now, while occasionally popping a pill to stay 25 forever and getting a foot massage (or other things) from a robot.

Why do people believe the techbros about AI now?

it's important to remember that AI shills are shitheads who work very hard to make the world a worse place, and if they're not straight up Nazis - and a lot in fact are - they're the other ten guys at the table

People are opening up Meta AI Ray Ban glasses and modding out the LED recording light, then selling them on eBay. There is huge interest in disabling this functionality, which means basically you cannot trust anyone wearing these (i'm sure you already weren't)

Just got my copy of @jacobsilverman.com's new book, "Gilded Rage." I will read it immediately. First thing I did when I opened the package was take off the dust jacket, which unfortunately has a partial photo of Musk on it. That jacket is headed for the back yard fire pit this evening.

They are so unbelievably and terribly desperate. You don’t do things like this unless you are scraping the bottom of the barrel for revenue and adoption. This is the ultimate form of the tech industry: a despicable, wretched, entitled, destructive, abusive digital despot that wants to con your kids.
So, uh... I just did a Google search which was not about homework... because I haven't been in school in decades, and I got this pop up from Google. And, like, I actually think there are ways to use AI in school properly, but this kind of advertising from Google seems... super sketchy.
