Province that has no plan to deal with the #longCOVID destroying the healthcare workforce turns to AI to hallucinate a world in which that problem has a solution that doesn't involve facing reality.

Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.

In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

Suffice to say, yes, things can get built, but people don't want to have to do the hard work or play by the rules, because corporate Canada is incredibly lazy and entitled, and they don't think they should have to. But nobody wants to actually call that out.

What I find so deeply frustrating about these columns about our supposed inability to build things is the complaints about "bureaucracy" frequently turn out to be "Waah, they won't let us poison this river with selenium!" or "Waah, I don't want to have to share revenue with the local First Nation!"

So many pundits just take the word of proponents that it's "red tape" killing projects, and not what the red tape is really about. Or that they blame "regulatory burden" when instead the reality is that the oil price crash in 2014 killed the business model but they don't want to say it.

This is what is happening.
We spent a year investigating billionaires for @washingtonpost.com.

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.

And how is it acceptable that the hospitals that are doing anything aren't basing what they are doing on any science, but instead on IPC "vibes"? Medical masks near patients are not PPE and do not respect science, which says covid and flu are aerosol-borne and require N95 protection.
If vaccination rates are well below target and a severe flu season is expected (+ Covid out of control all year round) how is it acceptable that there are so many hospitals not even doing anything?

Falling for anti-migrant racism doesn't protect workers, it entrenches capitalism by making workers more vulnerable & exploitable! Our enemy arrives in limousine, not someone on a boat fleeing colonial devastation.

Being pro-migrant is central to our collective fight against fascism!

I am by no means a prominent public intellectual, but my inbox is increasingly filled with messages from people who have been convinced by sycophantic chatbots that they have discovered revolutionary theories that entirely upend our scientific understanding of the universe.

Fear and denial are powerful emotions.

Most people have already had multiple infections and accepting the damage that’s been done is hard.

We’re also terrible at adaptation.

Too many folks think avoiding Covid means locking down forever.

They don’t realize the power of respirators & clean air!
40 years later… And the thing is, we already have mountains of data NOW that show what COVID does to brains. Why can’t we acknowledge it? Why can’t we face it? Why can’t we say it?

In fact, it’s clear why someone who still considers himself a
